Meta Advantage+ Sales Campaigns 2026: What Changed & How to Use Them

Meta is automating more of campaign delivery. The important question for advertisers is no longer how many manual levers they can touch. It is whether the automation is producing commercially useful outcomes, and when there is enough evidence to intervene.

Quick answer

Advantage+ Sales is Meta's current automated sales campaign experience, formerly associated with Advantage+ Shopping. Use automation when the campaign has trustworthy conversion signals, strong creative inputs and clear economics. Intervene when the business objective, measurement or spend allocation gives you a reason to.

What is an Advantage+ Sales campaign?

Advantage+ Sales is Meta's AI-assisted campaign setup for sales objectives. Meta's own Blueprint material describes Advantage+ Sales as the successor to Advantage+ Shopping within a streamlined campaign setup, alongside Advantage+ app and leads campaigns.

The important strategic change is that Advantage+ is increasingly part of the normal campaign creation experience rather than a completely separate world. Advertisers can use Meta's automation across areas such as audience, placements and campaign budget while retaining controls where the business requires them.

Is Advantage+ Shopping Campaign gone?

If you still search for Advantage+ Shopping Campaigns or ASC, you are not alone. The terminology persists because advertisers used it for years. Meta now refers to the sales solution as Advantage+ Sales, formerly Advantage+ Shopping, in its streamlined campaign setup training.

This is more than a naming detail. The newer experience brings ad-set structure and audience controls back into the conversation, so old ASC advice can be misleading if it assumes the older, more rigid setup.

What Advantage+ actually automates

Think of Advantage+ as a collection of automation layers rather than one magic switch:

  • Audience: Meta can expand beyond audience suggestions to find people likely to produce the desired outcome.
  • Placements: Advantage+ Placements lets delivery move across eligible placements.
  • Budget: Advantage campaign budget can distribute campaign spend between ad sets.
  • Creative: eligible Advantage+ creative features can adapt or optimise creative delivery.

Automation does not remove your responsibility for the offer, creative strategy, economics, conversion event and the quality of the data being fed back to Meta.

Advantage+ vs a more manual Meta campaign

DecisionMore Advantage+ automationMore manual control
Audience discoveryMeta gets more freedomYou impose more boundaries
PlacementsMeta allocates across eligible placementsYou restrict placements
Budget allocationCampaign-level allocation can move spendAd-set budgets can guarantee allocation
TestingOptimises toward performanceCan create cleaner controlled experiments
ManagementFewer routine allocation decisionsMore hands-on intervention

Neither side is automatically better. The correct structure depends on what you are trying to achieve and what you need to learn.

Advantage+ Audience: suggestions are not the same as hard targeting

The shift toward Advantage+ Audience changes the media buyer's job. Instead of assuming that increasingly narrow interest stacks create better performance, focus on giving the system strong conversion feedback and creative that represents genuinely different customer motivations.

This fits the broader direction described in our Meta Andromeda guide: creative diversity and signal quality matter more as Meta takes on more of the matching problem.

Advantage+ campaign budget

Budget automation and audience automation are separate decisions. Advantage campaign budget, historically known by many advertisers as CBO, lets Meta allocate campaign budget across ad sets based on delivery opportunities.

If you need a particular test, market or product to receive a defined amount of spend, there can still be a commercial reason to control allocation. Our CBO vs ABO guide explains when giving Meta budget freedom makes sense and when it can undermine the question you are trying to answer.

Advantage+ Placements

Placement automation gives Meta more inventory to choose from. Do not judge the decision solely by whether one placement has a cheaper CPM. The objective is profitable conversion delivery, not winning a CPM competition.

Manual restrictions can still make sense when the business has genuine creative, compliance or placement requirements. The key is to distinguish a business constraint from a marketer's preference for control.

Where creative fits in an automated campaign

As targeting becomes more automated, creative becomes one of the clearest inputs advertisers can improve. But more assets do not automatically mean better creative diversity. Five edits of the same concept may give the system less useful variety than three genuinely different angles.

Use the framework in our Meta Ads creative testing guide to separate concept, angle, hook, format and execution rather than uploading endless cosmetic variations.

Should you use Advantage+ for creative testing?

Separate two goals: finding the most efficient delivery right now and learning whether a specific creative hypothesis is true. Automation is designed to pursue the optimisation objective, not necessarily to give every creative equal spend for a clean experiment.

If Meta rapidly concentrates spend on one asset, that can be useful for performance but insufficient evidence for a controlled creative comparison. Use a testing structure that matches the question you need answered.

Advantage+ and existing customers

E-commerce advertisers should pay close attention to who is generating the reported revenue. A campaign can look excellent in Ads Manager while part of that performance comes from customers who already know the brand.

This is why platform ROAS should not be treated as the entire commercial truth. Review new-customer acquisition, repeat purchases and backend revenue alongside Meta's attribution. Our Meta Ads vs Shopify guide explains why the two systems can legitimately report different numbers.

Advantage+ bidding: automation still needs an economic target

Advantage+ does not make bidding strategy irrelevant. Highest Volume, Cost Per Result Goal, Highest Value and ROAS Goal place different constraints on delivery. A tighter constraint can trade volume for greater cost or value control, and an unrealistic target can restrict spend.

Before adding constraints, establish what the business can actually afford using the KARB Target CPA Calculator, then see our Meta Ads bidding strategies guide.

Why Advantage+ campaigns stop scaling

Automation cannot manufacture profitable demand indefinitely. When spend rises and efficiency weakens, investigate the constraint rather than assuming Advantage+ itself has failed.

  • Has creative response weakened?
  • Is the landing page converting?
  • Has the campaign exhausted its current creative capacity?
  • Is the bid or ROAS constraint too tight?
  • Is reported performance being distorted by attribution?
  • Are conversion signals healthy?
  • Has marginal CPA moved beyond the business target?

Scaling should follow evidence. See how to scale Meta Ads without killing ROAS for the full decision framework.

Advantage+ is only as useful as the conversion signal

More automation increases the importance of trustworthy feedback. If purchase events are missing, duplicated or poorly matched, the optimisation system is learning from a weaker representation of customer behaviour.

Before blaming campaign structure, inspect Pixel and Conversions API health. Our Meta Event Match Quality guide covers CAPI, matching and deduplication.

What about the Learning Phase?

Consolidation can help reduce unnecessary fragmentation, but clearing a status label is not the commercial objective. Do not restructure a profitable campaign purely because you want Ads Manager to look cleaner. Our Learning Phase guide explains how to treat Learning Limited as diagnostic information rather than a profitability score.

A practical Advantage+ decision framework

  1. Business target: define acceptable CPA, ROAS or contribution economics.
  2. Signal health: confirm the conversion event and value data are trustworthy.
  3. Creative: give Meta genuinely differentiated inputs.
  4. Structure: decide where automation helps and where control is commercially necessary.
  5. Budget: allow or constrain allocation based on the objective.
  6. Bidding: use the least restrictive strategy that solves the actual problem.
  7. Measurement: compare platform attribution with business reality.
  8. Decision: scale, hold, test or investigate.

The agency problem: automation does not remove the need for oversight

For an agency managing dozens of client accounts, the difficult part is not switching Advantage+ on. It is knowing where Meta's automation is working and which account needs a human decision today.

A portfolio-level workflow should surface accounts as scale, hold, creative intervention, signal issue, budget constraint or investigate performance, with the evidence behind the recommendation.

That is the direction behind KARB for performance marketing agencies: helping teams prioritise action across client accounts instead of manually opening every dashboard to find the problem.

Frequently asked questions

Is Advantage+ Shopping now Advantage+ Sales?

Meta describes Advantage+ Sales as formerly Advantage+ Shopping within its streamlined campaign setup. Older ASC terminology is still common in the industry, so always check the current controls available in your Ads Manager.

Is Advantage+ better than a manual campaign?

Not universally. Advantage+ can reduce unnecessary manual constraints, while manual controls remain useful when you have a genuine business requirement or need a controlled test.

Should I use Advantage+ for testing?

It can be useful for performance-led testing, but it may not distribute spend evenly enough to answer a controlled experimental question. Decide whether you are optimising delivery or trying to learn something specific.

Can I use campaign budget optimisation with Advantage+?

Advantage campaign budget is Meta's campaign-level budget automation. Whether you use it should depend on whether Meta should be free to move spend between your ad sets.

Why is my Advantage+ CPA rising?

Check creative response, conversion rate, auction conditions, bidding constraints, attribution, signal health and marginal economics before assuming the campaign type is the cause.

When should I scale an Advantage+ campaign?

Scale when conversion data is credible, the campaign is commercially viable, creative capacity is healthy and the business can tolerate the expected marginal acquisition cost. Increase spend because the evidence supports it, not because the campaign is labelled Advantage+.

Automation still needs judgement

KARB is being built to help agencies understand which Meta accounts need attention, why they need it and what action is commercially justified across the portfolio.
